Holiday traditions include food

The Holiday Season, whether Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, or any other holiday this time of year, is filled with many time-honored traditions.

As we introduced to you last month, our founder, Carolyn Piguet’s family, comes from a long line of farmers who love the soil and provide food for their families. This month, we are discussing holiday traditions, especially those surrounding food.

Carolyn shares these thoughts:

When I married and moved to Vinita, Jerry and my kids chose to travel back to see my family where I grew up; traditionally, our big meal was Christmas Day. Now, we alternate between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On the even years, we do it on Christmas Eve. On the odd years, it’s Christmas Day and I share the holidays with my siblings and their families. On my immediate family get togethers my kids and grandkids usually all come to my house where we have a more non traditional meal. We get together around brunch time on Christmas morning, we enjoy things like a cinnamon roll wreath and breakfast casserole as a family.

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without sweets! I have many memories of family members making divinity and peanut brittle as a child. I never got into making candy, but I love to bake, so we decorate Christmas cookies with the grandkids yearly.

As I always say, my family showed love for people through food. Everything centered around the kitchen; it was my mom’s and grandmother’s job to do their work in the kitchen. It was their responsibility to do their best to feed their families. Now, I do that through the restaurant.

Christmas Turkey Dinner at Piguet's Prime TimeWhether it’s a family party or a group of business executives holding their holiday party, I love showing people love through my restaurant. It’s even decorated with items from my home. My staff and I put a lot of time and effort into making each person feel welcome and leave with their bellies full.

I can’t tell you how good it made me feel that the holiday meals we provided at Thanksgiving went over so well. We will continue to offer the traditional meals at Christmas, as well as prime rib as an option.

Our calendar is booked with Christmas parties and I hope that many of those guests decide to make Christmas festivities at Piguet’s Prime Time is a new tradition during the holidays!

It’s never too late to begin planning your next party. Piguet’s Prime Time has a catering service you might want to connect with us to get that next event booked. Our availability goes pretty quickly especially during the holiday season.
