Piguet’s Farm Stand
We’ve been talking about it for a while now, and it’s finally going to happen next month! We will be opening Piguet’s Farm Stand, which is a small indoor shop where you can purchase baked goods, fresh produce, and fresh-cut steaks (and more) from local growers and makers.
We will host a soft opening on Saturday, May 17, the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend. The new store is next to the Piguet’s Prime Time restaurant and will soon include a variety of vendors.
Here is a sampling of what we will have available opening weekend:
- You’ve tried Donna’s breads in the restaurant, now enjoy them in your home! We will have baked breads and rolls from our oven.
- It wouldn’t be a Piguet establishment without our Wagyu steaks in a variety of cuts.
- We love seasonal produce and know you do, too. We will have produce such as strawberries, blueberries, asparagus, and tomatoes.
- A short (but growing) list of local vendors that we can’t wait to share!
This soft opening is just the beginning. We plan to add more shelving, cold storage, and other amenities for our vendors. We are proud to announce that we recently learned that we qualified for Round 1 of grants from the Heartland Regional Food Business Center.
The Heartland Regional Food Business Center has selected 89 food and farm enterprises for $3.7 million in Round 1 funding through its USDA Business Builder Subaward grant program, according to a recent blog post. The finalists are among 479 enterprises that applied in Round 1 of the program, with total requests of $20 million. Our grant was $45,602 to be used for “completing the setup of a local farm store by adding refrigeration, a point-of-sale system, marketing materials, and an online presence to support up to 15 local vendors.”
Finalization of grant awards is currently on hold pending the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture’s review of the RFBC program. Once that happens and when the money is released, we look forward to enhancing and growing this new market to serve our community!
What would you like to see in our store?
